Therapy

Psychotherapy

I offer psychotherapy to adult individuals and couples. While some therapists offer brief therapy focused on one area of concern, I tend to do deeper work with clients so we can address the root issues that affect many areas of their lives.

I find this kind of work requires a commitment of at least one session per week and could last several months or longer based on your goals for therapy.  Some people find multiple sessions a week to be very helpful, and in some cases, I may recommend it depending on the nature of the concerns.

Frequent and consistent treatment produces faster and longer-lasting results.  I understand the financial and personal commitment involved in pursuing therapy and also believe in the life-changing effects the therapeutic relationship can have on your life.

Are We a Good Fit?

As you consider choosing a therapist, you’ll want to think not only about practical matters like scheduling and payment, but also personal qualities that may be important to you.  For example, you may want to consider characteristics such as gender, age, life experience, areas of professional experience, faith, and worldview.

Other considerations to determine if we will be able to work together:

  • Scheduling:  I offer appointments Monday – Thursday from 9:10am – 5:00pm (last appointment is at 4:10pm).  Regular clients often choose to keep the same appointment time each week, which I welcome as it cuts down on confusion and makes planning ahead easier.  However, depending on my case load, I cannot guarantee that this option will be available for new clients.
  • Payment:  Many clients choose to utilize their insurance benefits to cover the majority of their therapy costs. They find that many insurance plans do cover my services. Some clients don’t have insurance and pay out of pocket.  Still others are facing economic hardship and need a sliding fee.  Check out the Fees and Insurance page to find out more information regarding your specific situation.
  • Style: A third consideration in finding a good fit is the match of our styles. You will find me to be an open, honest, caring person. I love to laugh and yet find it equally valuable to enter into the difficult emotions of life. I hope to offer my presence in a respectful and life giving way. My clients have often mentioned that they appreciate the unique combination of skills and perspective that I have, particularly the healthy integration of strong psychology with sound Christian theology.
